THE DIFFERENTIAL FEATURES OF LOCATIVE SEMANTIC DEPENDENCE

Tetiana Masytska

Department of Ukrainian Language, Lesya Ukrayinka Eastern European National University, Lutsk, Volyn region, Ukraine

Available 15 August 2012.

Abstract Relevance

Comprehensive analyses of the semantic-syntactical structure of the sentence, its composition are belong to problematic issues of functional syntax. In syntactic system of Modern Ukrainian language predicates and types of components that have different semantic dependency form semantic and syntactic structure of sentence that is inherent to many types of sentences. They weighty expand and complement the functional possibilities of semantic-syntactical system of Modern Ukrainian language with its manifestations features of semantic values. A consideration of locative semantic dependency deserves an attention because of the differential functional expression that formed lexical meaning of predicate (static / dynamic). All this justifies the relevance of consideration of locative semantic dependency in its differential value.

Purpose

The purpose is a comprehensive rationale of functional features of locative semantic dependence, including the selection of predicates that form the locative semantic relationship, and establishing differential types of locative semantic dependence.

Tasks

The stated goal predetermines a necessity of the solution of such problems: 1) outline differences between formal-syntactic and semantic-syntactical structures of sentences, 2) selection of semantic predicate groups, forming locative semantic dependence, and 3) analysis of differential features of locative semantic dependence.

Conclusion

Locative semantic dependence mainly operates in three categories of predicates: static, process and actional. Static predicates form an explicit locative dependence; process predicates and actional predicates form an explicit / implicit locative semantic one. Characteristic of all predicates that outline a locative semantic dependence is the presence in their structure a locative preposition that differentiates lexical meaning of predicates and generates semantic and morphological variation of locative semantic subjection. Three types of options are variants of locative semantic dependency: variants with semantic value of static location, direction of movement and path of motion. The combination of all functional positions of locative semantic subordination depends on the semantic value predicate.

Perspective

Perspective is a study of other semantic relationships in the structure of sentence constructions that facilitate to in-depth study of semantic-syntactical aspect of sentence.

Research highlights

► In the article functional features of locative semantic dependency in structure of the simple sentence are analyzed. ► The great attention is paid to the semantic types of predicates that form the locative semantic dependence. Differential characteristics of locative semantic dependence are defined.

Keywords: locative semantic dependency, locative, predicate, syntaxeme, semantic and syntactic structure of sentences.

THE SEMANTIC GROUPS OF NUMERALIZED VERBAL SYNTACTIC TRANSPOSITIONS Iryna Melnyk

Department of Ukrainian Language, Lesya Ukrayinka Eastern-European National University, Lutsk, Volyn region, Ukraine

Available 20 August 2012.

Abstract Relevance

Today there are no scientific papers in Ukrainian studies, which have comprehensively characterized semantic potential of numeralized verbal syntactic transpositions from the standpoint of functional-categorical grammar. The solving of this theoretical problem is the relevance of the studio.

Purpose

The purpose of the article is a creating holistic semantic classification of numeralized verbal syntactic transpositions built on the basis of functional-categorical grammar I.R. Vykhovanets' and his followers.

Tasks

To achieve this goal it is necessary to solve the following tasks: 1) to outline semantic specificity of verbal syntactic transpositions; 2) to differentiate numeralized verbal syntactic transpositions by semantic potential for the core and the periphery; 3) to isolate and to organize groups of numeralized verbals to indicate definite number according to semantic discharges of definite-quantity cardinals; 4) to distinguish and to characterize semantic groups that form the periphery of numeralized verbal syntactic transpositions; 5) to determine the influence of semantics numeralized syntactic transpositions on morphological explication of subjective component.

Conclusion

Numeralized verbal syntactic transpositions as exponents of static permanent or temporary character of the subject in the grammatical structure of the Ukrainian language convey definite, indefinite, approximate, distribution and correlate quantity. Depending on the nature and way of expression of quantitative indicators they are divided into core and periphery. To core numeralized verbals the author musters lexemes with semantics of definite number because they combine many numerical names and they are the most semantic differentiated. Their periphery associates with lexemes to indicate indeterminate, approximate, distribution and correlate numbers. Within verbal transposition that convey

definite, indefinite, approximate and distribution the author isolates derived units with semantics of quantitative- age features.

Perspective

Perspective appears not only in distinguishing of semantic groups of numeralized verbal syntactic transposition but holistic analysis numeralized verbal components in syntactic positions of verb against the background of formal-syntactic and semantic-syntactical sentence structures.

Research highlights

► The article deals the essence of numeralized verbal syntactic transposition. ► Numeralized verbalizats are differentiated according to semantic potential at the core and the periphery. ►The important groups, that form the centre and the periphery of analyzed transpositions, are selected and characterized. ► The author determined the effect of semantic numeralized verbalizats on morphological explication of subjective component.

Keywords: transposition, verbalization, predicate, semantic group.

CONVERSIVES AS AN INSTRUMENT OF MEDIA REALITY CREATING Inna Minchuk

Department of Russian Language, Yanka Kupala Grodno National University, Grodno, Belarus

Available 22 September 2012.

Abstract Relevance

During the age of information in linguistics' researches the language is not presented as static and closed, but, on the contrary, as alive dynamic system, that is in close interaction with the Man and world. The problem of understanding the principles of system's functioning is in the centre of linguists' attention.

The special interest spares to the language of mass media that nowadays is the closest one to the language of communication. With the help of this language the special reality with the prefix media- is creating. It is characterised with an absolute subjectivity [Starobakhin 2008], fragmentariness and corresponds "a violent, dislocated image of the reality" [Zheltuhina 2011].

The modern mediareality is defined by different factors - extralinguistics (political, ideological directives of the mass media edition, the specific of financing, the technology of creating a newspaper or a TV- and radio-program) [Kyriya 2007; Ilyichenko 2009] and linguistics: from selection the vocabulary (a war - a liberational operation, the Chechen rebels - bandits, gunmans, separatists, fighters for independence) to choosing the syntactical constructions and stylistical appearance of a text. Also, the conversive structures are one of the verbal instruments for creating this mediareality.

Purpose

The purpose of the investigation is determination the ways of construction the mediareality with the help of conversive structures.

Tasks

The declared purpose predetermines the necessity of solution such tasks: 1) to trace the ways of presentation the conversive situations in different electronical mass media; 2) to select the contecsts that illustrate the intentional journalist's choise of the particular conversive structure from the paradygm; 3) to determine the reason of the author's choise and 4) to describe the procedure of constructing the mediareality.

Conclusion

The modern mediareality has its own peculiarities: the fragmentation of the informational stream, the pointed immediacy of messages that causes the participation of audience to the current events, the subjective modality. There is one more peculiarity: the own linguistical instruments, in which the special role gives to the conversive structures as to the mechanism of construction this reality (profiling or hiding the information, attraction the attention of an audience, blowing the emotional background), that means that also to the mechanism of forming the public opinion.

Perspective

In the age of information the mediaeducation is needed for every Internet user, for every man who receives the information from mass media. The further investigation the ways of constructing the mediareality is nesessary to open the mechanisms of manipulating the audience's mind and to protect a man who was involved into the informational space, i.e. everyone of us.

Research highlights

The syntactical conversives are one of the verbal means of media reality formation. With their help in electronic mass media texts necessary information is actualized or covered, the position of the edition is reflected, the emotional background is forced, and preconditions for public opinion formation are created. In combination with a video series, conversives represent the means of expression of these or those preferences in a described event structuring.

Abstract

Relevance

Eternal question of the nature and value of good and bad does not lose its relevance today, and evaluative aspect is crucial in understanding the world. The direct expression of native speakers' ideas about reality appears universal category of estimation that T. Kosmeda calls "the testimony level knowledge of the world" [Kosmeda 2000: 228]. Various aspects of linguistic estimation categories covered in the writings of domestic and foreign linguists, such as N. Arutjunova, O. Bessonova, A. Wolf, N. Vyshyvana, G. Zolotova, A. Kolodkina, T. Kosmeda, M. Kravchenko, I. Kremyh, N. Luk'janova, Yu. Malynovych, T. Markelova, O. Ostrovs'ka, N. Pazych, L. Sergeeva, Ch. Stivenson, A. Stolyarova, V. Telija, I. Hudjakov, R. Hear, V. Shahovs'kyj, V. Shynkaruk, Yu. Shkitska and others. Particularly relevant is arises the study of language of estimation category in connection with the personality of the speaker in modern science, which fully reflected in the communication process.

Purpose

The purpose of the article is the research of norm in structure of evaluation in the modern Ukrainian language.

Tasks

The purpose involves solving the following tasks: 1) to analyze the concept of norms in the system of estimation; 2) to find a place of norms on estimation scale; 3) to identify the specific norms realization in the Ukrainian language. Conclusion

The main features of estimation norms are subjective-objective nature, positivity and dynamics. The norm is socially conditioned and it has a national specific.

Perspective

The problem of formulation and expression of subjective norms of estimation requires a deep understanding, promising for further research seems communicative and pragmatic aspect of category of estimation.

Research highlights

The article is sanctified to the analysis of norm in the structure category of estimation. Correlation of evaluation and normative expressions is considered. The features of expression of norm of axiology are described in Ukrainian.

THE SPECIFICITY OF EXPRESSION OF THE CONCEPT "FREEDOM" IN THE POLITICAL SYSTEM OF GREAT BRITAIN (BASED ON LEGAL DOCUMENTS)

Tatiana Nikishina

Department of General Linguistics and Slavic Philology, Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, Berdyansk, Zaporiz'ka Region, Ukraine

Available 28 September 2012.

Abstract

Relevance

The chosen form of government of the country puts the dynamic impact on the political views of the population. Any concept is developing in the linguistic environment, depending on experience and living conditions of many generations. The frequency of use of the concept determines its relevance and importance in society, showing the citizens will and vision in determining the political development of their country. Based on the aspirations of the electorate politicians form, make speeches, campaign programs, legislative projects, acts, government documents using the motivated concepts, one of the most important of which is "freedom", in particular for the Westminster political system of Great Britain, and that is the relevance of exploration.

Purpose

The purpose of the article is the analysis of the specific use of the concept of "FREEDOM" in the political discourse of the United Kingdom, its impact on the development of the Westminster political system based on legislative documents.

Tasks

The purpose involves solving the following tasks: consideration of the facts (the frequency of use of the concept of "FREEDOM" in the legal documents); analysis of the Westminster system of government, its specificity; determination of the specific expression of the concept of "FREEDOM" in the political discourse of the British Isles.

Conclusion

In summary, author can conclude that the expression of the concept of "FREEDOM" in the Westminster system is due synonymous equivalents "democracy", "independence", which clearly show an independent state of signified phenomena. Analysis of the UK political system showed the highly democratic principles of the country and the concept of "FREEDOM" for every citizen. It is interesting also the combination of different forms of government -historically established form of unitary monarchy and modern vision of equality, which is the highest degree of unquestioning democracy.

Thus, the concept of "FREEDOM" in the political system of Great Britain occupies a prominent place and gets into all branches of government and the media, forming the basis for the development of free and independent state. The concept "FREEDOM" is the embodiment of the highest values of Englishmen, placing itself the experience of past generations and the present-day state of democratic society.

Perspective
